This was my third course in the MET program, taking it after ETEC 511 and ETEC 512. It is arguably the program's most challenging and time intensive course. I think the timing of it being my third, and not first or last, was excellent. The previous two courses allowed for good theoretical grounding to mentally prepare me for the challenges that this course had to offer. In addition, taking it third allowed me to consolidate previous learning, particularly in sourcing and critiquing articles, APA formatting and referencing, and creating literature reviews.

For me, I remember it candidly as one that will change my thinking about research for a lifetime.

One of the most basic, yet important learning activities in this course was in Module 1: Lesson 3; I was introduced to how to use the UBC online library and other crucial resource websites that grads have access to like ERIC. An activity that followed was properly referencing a variety of sources, strictly abiding to APA guidelines. The learning from this activity would prove most valuable for all other courses that followed.

The artifacts I chose to include for this course taught me about how to: critically frame research questions, APA reference and format properly, critique research validity, complete a well-framed literature review and to develop a research proposal.
