The lessons learned in this assignment would carry through the rest of the program and arguably a lifetime.

 

The first, was being able to discern the credibility of research findings (i.e. analyzing research with a critical lens). Validity of data, especially how it was gathered and representative of the research variables, was overlooked in the article we were critiquing in this assignment. I learned that by offering transparency, exposing limitations and making clear visuals of the way you represent your findings are some ways to overcome this as a researcher.

The second lesson was applying APA (American Psychological Association) formatting and referencing rules into the greater authentic context of a summative assignment. A great resource for anyone who must follow this style is the OWL - Purdue's Online Writing Lab.
