Piaget vs.Vygotsky

ETEC 512 | ARTIFACT ONE

(Ouellette, J., 2013c)

Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky are two of constructivism's founding fathers.

Being honest, I had heard a fair bit about them both in my teacher training in New Zealand. However, up until this point, I understood quite little what it meant to model and adopt constructivist practice.

This post, during one of the weekly discussions, was my visual way to consolidate my knowledge of the philosophical ideals of these two pillars learned throughout this course.

This task helped me more deeply understand who I align closer with (Vygotsky), particularly on the social construction of knowledge.

In my practice, I have ETEC 512  to thank for making me eternally cognizant of the power of collaboration and peer learning.
